The first thing to know about the Maytag Store is there is more than just the Maytag name inside the store. For anyone who hasn’t bought appliances in awhile, Whirlpool now owns most of the top appliance brands: Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, Inglis, Amana and Maytag.
“Try before you buy” is our motto, says Jo Forster, who together with her husband Bill, own and manage the store. The store is set up so you can “try” its products. The kitchen, laundry corner and dishwasher section is “live”, meaning the appliances work on site so you can actually turn them on, test for noise levels and ease of use.
The kitchen is so real that it was recently was the site for filming 13 weeks of a live cooking show, featuring renowned chef, Massimo Capra.
“We have a beautiful showroom that is comfortable, no pressure and relaxed,” says Bill Forster, who took only a moment to talk with Beaches|life because he was helping out a customer. “We’re a friendly, family run business with a hands-on showroom,” he adds.
The store features the latest in appliance trends: French door refrigerators, stainless steel finishes, and new “induction” stoves and cook tops that are faster than gas, with burners that never get hot! Appliances include stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers and microwaves.
The store is privately owned and opened in January 2008. Apart from major appliances with Maytag and Whirlpool owned brands, customers can purchase smaller KitchenAid appliances such as mix masters, blenders, food processors, etc.. The store also sells parts and helps customers arrange for repair services.
For anyone living downtown or in central Toronto, the Maytag Store is the only convenient appliance store close by with the added bonus of free parking.
The Maytag Store is located at
