Watch for the bright purple Budget Blinds van!

Have you seen the bright purple Budget Blinds van in the neighborhood? The showroom for Budget Blinds is located at Kingston Road and Main Street, but most people are familiar with the “traveling store” in a van that delivers products and decorates windows throughout the Beaches.
The owner of the Beaches Budget Blinds, John Fulford Brown, welcomes visitors but is quick to remind you that the showroom is where you can view some products and book an appointment with one of the design consultants for a free in-home consultation – not purchase items.

The real fun begins when the purple van arrives at your home with every product sample you can imagine. A design consultant measures your windows and you see samples right in your windows so you can tell how well the fabrics and designs suit your décor.

“That’s something that is impossible to do at a retail location”, explains John, “That is why we offer free in-home consultations, expert fit measuring and installation, right where you are.”

Budget Blinds offers a wide variety of products such as shutters, blinds, Roman shades, roller shades, draperies, upholstering, area rugs and window film. Products come from manufacturers from all over Canada and the US, and carry the best warranties in the business.

“You get our small business style of service before, during and after our visit to your home along with big business competitive pricing; that kind of service is hard to find elsewhere these days.”

John notes that customers today look for form and function – plus energy savings. Budget Blinds offers a complete range of products from the simple touches of fabric in Romans, valances and decorative side panels to highly creative and elaborate drapery treatments, upholstered furniture, and even upholstered walls. Budget Blinds also carries a wide selection of ‘green’ products that save energy costs and are environmentally friendly. Many of the products are ‘Greenguard’ certified.

“If you have an idea,” John promises, “ we have the solution.” The latest window cover trends include safety motorization for opening/closing window coverings in large windows, hard to reach areas, or where there are multiple window coverings. Parents with small children request motorized blinds for safety reasons (without strings or cords). Drapery is also coming back.

John has lived and worked in the Beaches community for 25 years. Since opening his Budget Blinds showroom in October 2008, he has enjoyed meeting people and helping
them beautify their homes.  “There’s such a variety of home styles in the neighbourhood,”
he says, “From quaint old cottages to ultra-modern condos. I really like the challenge of helping my customers choose the best-looking window coverings to finish their home décor.”
