Dear editor,

This summer was awesome because I got to do some amazing things. In June I went fishing for the first time. I went with my brother, mom and uncle and it was really fun. It took me 10 or 20 minutes to get used to using a fishing rod and I got to see that there were many different types of rods and ways of fishing. I didn’t catch anything but my brother caught and released two rock bass. Just before we went home we got to make a fly and were even given free fishing rods and hats. In August I got to go camping for three days and two nights in Algonquin Park. It was so much fun! I met new friends and slept in a tent. I got to see how to save water when washing dishes and brushing my teeth. We went canoeing on Canoe Lake and got to hear the story about how Tom Thomson died in that lake. At our campsite we were having a campfire and I felt something tickling my neck. I went to scratch my neck and I pulled off a huge daddy longlegs spider! I am terrified of spiders so I jumped and screamed. The next campfire we had I kept a flashlight nearby and sat on a foldout chair instead of on the ground.

The last cool thing I did this summer was go to a Jays game. Even though they lost I still got to spend a great afternoon together at the game with my cousins. Even though I wish summer would go on forever I’m happy to go back to school and see all my friends.
