letter from the director
It is that time again, one year goes by and another comes along; one chapter is about to close and another about to open. Sometimes it seems like nothing much has changed over the year, but then you realize that so much has taken place all around us.
Beaches Living is completing our 9th year, publishing the Beaches Living Guide. 2013 welcomes a very exciting year for us our 10th anniversary.
Although new businesses open almost every day, many in our neighbourhood have been around for years 10, 20, 28, 35, or longer. Some have changed hands but many are still owned and operated by the same individuals people who have devoted their careers and lifestyle to fit their business and customers needs. We congratulate every one of you for coming this far and continuing to be part of our community.
There have been many changes around us. Social media, for example, was unheard of a decade ago, Facebook hadnt been born, Internet bandwidth was a fraction of what it is today, few knew about smart phones. Although some people wonder if print media is over, we believe that people today just have more options such as fast, searchable and portable information.
The Guide is published so you can hold it in your hand and enjoy the stories, on your comfortable sofa while sipping a coffee or tea. Time after time our readers have assured us that they love every edition, cover to cover.
For those who are environment-conscious, or prefer reading online, every story published in this guide can be found at beachesliving.ca. These have been available online from the first day the Guide was launched.
As we sign off on this edition, we look towards another step forward, marking the 10th year in our community. We want to thank you for allowing us to be part of you life. We congratulate every business that achieves this kind of milestone we know what it takes for you to get there. Our journey has been similar, passing each landmark along the way.
From all of us at Beaches Living, we wish you a prosperous 2013.
