#3. NEW! Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday March 11th!
Does your computer know?

This year in Canada and US the official Daylight Saving Time has changed from the first Sunday in April to the Second Sunday in March. If your computer system has not been updated recently, it probably will not make the adjustment. If you have an auto update for your computer system, your system might already be updated.   If you don't have the update, you can either go to the official website for your system to find an updater or change it YOURSELF.   To change yourself this Sunday March 11:
  1. Click on the time clock at the bottom-right of your computer screen (for Windows). A small dialog box called Date and Time Properties will open.
  2. Manually set the time one hour ahead, then;
  3. Click on the Time Zone tap. You will see a 2D world map. Below it there is a check box with "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes", UN-check the box so your computer will not set the daylight saving again in April.

We just keep adding ways to keep you connected!

Now into our fourth year, Beaches Living Guide is a HUB for our community. We continue to look for new ways to bring our readers, local businesses and community groups and individuals closer together.
Beaches Living Guide Spring-Summer Edition will be published this April. It includes: If you have a business in the Beaches or know someone who does, please contact us to reserve your space in the Spring-Summer edition at 416.690.4269 or by email at

 Walk your dog in the parade for $10

Energy Saving Tips:

Indoor Lighting: Switch on efficiency with CFLs to save you energy and money..

Incandescent light bulbs are the least efficiency type of light bulb. Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) use about 75% less energy than a standard incandescent light bulb and last 10 times longer. Each CFL saves $35 in electricity cost over its lifetime. If every household in Canada changed just one incandescent light bulb to an ENERGY STAR® qualified CFL, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions as much as taking 66,000 cards off the road.
For more information on conserve energy and money saving options, you can download a copy of Clean Air and Environment Guide at Clean Air Partnership
website, Or visit 20/20 program at city's website.

A business nurtured by family

In many ways Nadine Steinberg, the owner of Memories Now and Then, epitomizes the residents of Toronto. Her grandparents came from the “Old Country”, in her case Russia and Poland. She was born and raised in Toronto, but now lives in Richmond Hill and works in the Beaches.
An appreciation for beautiful things made by the hands of man runs in her family. ....
