While the official Summer yet to end, (last day of summer is Saturday, Sep. 22), our Provincial Election is on its way. Get involved with our community, take this oppotunity to learn about our neighbourhood, and voice out What Matters to You. Beach Metro News in conjunction with Community Certre 55 is holding an All candidates Meeting for Beaches-East York:

Date: Tuesday, Sep. 18 from 7 to 9 pm.
Location: St. John's Norway Church (corner of Woodbine Ave. and Kingston Rd.)

Election date: Wednesday, October 10, 2007.

#2. Was your house built before 1955? Concerned about lead in your water? Lead testing info: To request free testing for lead in drinking water, you can call the Water Quality Lab at 416-392-2894. No other Toronto Water number can take these requests. Alternatively, you can email the lab at: waterqualityline@toronto.ca.  
Lead contamination of drinking water is only a concern in homes built prior to 1955. If a home was built before 1955, a resident can request free water testing. When calling the lab residents must provide:
  • name
  • full address
  • closest major intersection
  • phone number
