Library is celebrating its 90th anniversary!
The Beaches Branch of the Toronto
Public Library opened in a corner of Kew Gardens on the evening of December
13, 1916. Designed by renowned architect Eden Smith, the Arts & Crafts
building is an adaptation of 17th century English village architecture.
Celebration event is held on this Sat. Dec. 15. For details, see
Community Events.
#2. Caroling in the Park, TONIGHT!
- At Glen Stewart Park
Another long time Beaches tradition...
for more details, visit online Community Events.
#3. We are continuing On-the-Go!
Having just step into our fourth
year, the Guide has established itself as a hub for our community. We continue
to look for new ways to bring our readers, local businesses and community
groups and individuals closer together:
- Our popular Halloween Contest expanded
to feature local shops as well as houses
- A number of monthly contest promoted local
businesses and delighted residents with prizes involving shops and restaurants
in the Beaches
- We have organized guided walking tours of
the Beach, Woodbine Park and the Spit
- We have helped many local businesses
fulfill their needs for connections, marketing, signage, locating resources
... and almost all of our resources are from the Beaches
- We have also filled many requests for
help from readers outside the community who are visiting or moving
to the Beach or look with nostalgia at a former life in the Beaches
Comments and feedback provide evidence of the
high regard in which the Guide and its activities are held - see Page 25
of the printed Guide.
We look forward to suggestions
from you on how we can add more value to you and the community.
See You All in 2007, and Happy New Year!

Winter Energy Saving Tips:
DID YOU KNOW?
In most homes, heating accounts for as much
as 75% of your energy costs. So reducing your energy use for heating is not
only the most effective way to reduce your home’s contribution to air
pollution but also the best way to save money on your utility bills.
Use a programmable thermostat
to automatically adjust the temperature after you go to bed, before you
wake, and after you leave in the morning and return in the evening. You
can reduce your heating bills by up to 10%.
For more information on conserve energy
and money saving options, you can download a copy of Clean Air and Environment
Guide at Clean Air Partnership website, Or visit 20/20 program at city's website.
