#2. Energuide for Houses Program by Natural Resources Canada:
Owner of houses at least 20 years old will be eligible for grants up to $4580 for making their residences more energy efficient. To qualify the owner will arrange with one of companies approved by the government to conduct home energy audits.

A thorough assessment will identify all the problem situations and provide suggestions for improvement. An certified energuide rating will be determined. There is a charge for this analysis, for which the government will provide a subsidy of $150. A period of 18 months is stipulated in which to make the upgrades. A second assessment is then required, at an additional, unsubsidized cost, to determine the degree of improvement. The percentage of improvement, not the cost of the retrofit, is used to calculate the grant.
