Many Canadians can tell you where they were when Paul Henderson scored the winning goal in a hockey series that matched up hockey superpowers Canada and the Soviet Union. Some of us, for example, were in school and cheered with delight when TV sets were rolled into our classrooms so we could all watch.
It was truly an iconic moment in Canadian sports history. With 34 seconds remaining in the historic eight-game 1972 Summit Series - the first time our best professional players faced off against their best so-called amateurs - Paul Henderson scored to put his team ahead for good.
