Letter From The Director
TORONTO - A GARDEN WITHIN
Our city is a huge garden of gardens, with rolling hills, rivers, valleys, forests, creeks, marshes and wetlands: all within an urban environment. We're surrounded by green space: with Lake Ontario to the south, the Niagara Escarpment to the west, the Rouge Valley to the east, and the Oak Ridges Moraine to the north.
On a warm summer day, in an evening, or during the weekend, our city gives us almost infinite options: a stroll in a nearby garden, or a short drive to a place you haven't visited before.
When we decided to focus this issue on the gardens around us, we faced a challenge - there are so many to tell you about. Each of them, large and small, has its own unique features, history and attractions. So, if weve missed your favourite, tell us about it. Maybe we'll be able to include it in a future edition.
While signing off on this edition, I look forward to getting outside to explore and enjoy the many beautiful gardens in our city.
Oh, and there is just one more thing (Steve Jobs' way saying it)...
