letter from the director![]() As you open up this Beaches Living Guide, you are opening up a new chapter with us! This spring/summer issue marks the 10th edition of this bi-annual publication! On July 15, 2004, the premier issue of Beaches Living Guide was unveiled at the Beaches Lions Club House at Ashbridge Bay. It was one of those perfect summer evenings with a view of the sun setting into Lake Ontario. Local celebrities, business owners, politicians, families and friends gathered to mix and mingle, while inquisitively wondering what they were about to see. It seemed like yesterday. I still remember the faces of everyone at the launch, opening the frst chapter of the Beaches Living Guide – a landscape of the Beaches and surrounding neighbourhoods. To this day, Beaches Living Guide refects the changing faces of our community and our city. To all of us who live, work or visit this one-of-a-kind Toronto neighbourhood, the Beaches continues to show itself off as a vibrant community through the pages of the Beaches Living Guide and Beaches|life. "...a landscape of the Beaches and surrounding neighbourhoods."Over a year ago, we "rolled out" Beaches|life magazine, now published six times a year. This small yet mighty magazine closely captures life in our neighbourhood with business stories, lively features and tips about lifestyle, food, health, gardening, business, fashion, sports and your favourite Beaches spot, and much more. Today, Beaches Living is more than a publication, we are a one-stop marketing solution helping local businesses succeed. Beaches Living also partners with community members and hosts events such as the annual Kids Program Open House, the popular Opera & Fine-Dining event, as well as Beaches Photo Contests, the Beach Shop, and a monthly community E-News Flash. As Mayor David Miller says in his letter, we continue to be an integral part of our community and the neighbourhoods around us. We are truly connected to you, our readers, local businesses and community members. We are proud of all the accomplishments made over the past fve years, and look forward to the opening of new chapters in the coming years! Have a fun and enjoyable summer!
