letter from the director
As we sign off on the 11th issue of the Beaches Living Guide
and wrap up 2009, it is time for me to take a moment and
reflect on what has stood out the most this year.
Six years ago when we set out to create this neighbourhood
magazine – Beaches Living Guide – our goal was to connect
everyone in the community together through a common
resource. In the last 12 months, instances of that strong bond
of connection have been occurring more and more often.
Nearly everywhere I go, a local community event, a business
function elsewhere in the city, or friend’s birthday party, I
am not a stranger because of my association with Beaches
Living. People know our magazine or have been to one of our
events. We sense our goal has come to fruition when people
make connections to our community through the Beaches
Living Guide. Not only are Beachers better connected to
each other, the magazine goes beyond by connecting those
outside the Beaches back to the community.
"...vibrancy has returned to our community once more."
Over the last few years, our community has faced some
challenges with businesses coming and going. However,
you may have noticed this year many new businesses
have been successful in bringing new, unique products
and ideas to the neighbourhood. Established businesses
continue to serve us well but with a fresh new look and
feel, and vibrancy has returned to our community once
more.
All of us at Beaches Living are excited to be a part of this
community as it flourishes anew. We look forward to many
years continuing to tell the story of why this is truly the
best place to live, work and visit!
