A glimpse into your creative side at Beaches Beadworks
If you have not given yourself the chance to visit Beadworks (2154 Queen Street East), one visit may surprise you. The
appeal of this place is not just in their unique stock and ongoing assistance, but in what comes out of you; a glimpse
into your creative side. You can start off just by walking through this small store, take a few minutes to see what others
are doing, then pick up a few things that appeal to you, ask a few questions and then play. After you have made a few
things for yourself, and perhaps a relative, one question will come to mind... What can I make next ? Once you get drawn
into a project, the time seems to pass.
What started off as a franchise opportunity for Jo Penny and her sister during a trip to Vancouver, has developed into
a Beaches success story. Beadworks has been a part of our community for 15 years and customers are from the local and
other areas. While her sister has returned to teaching, Jo has continued on as the owner of Beadworks. She and Tracey,
a loyal employee of ten years, have created an abundance of completed pieces to display around the store while offering
ideas, tools and worktables for visitors. They also offer a number of guided workshops for groups in their upper loft.
You can find a variety of beads made of glass, bone, clay, chrystal, wood, precious metals and stone, from all over the
world. It is for everyone, all ages. Sometimes men and women come in together and surprisingly, leave with an unique
piece of art.
